I'm playing in the bellevue volleyball league. The team I'm on is in the middle division which I think is a good spot for us.
Some thoughts I have:
After not playing for a few months, I always play really well my first time out. I hit well and pass ok. I think I'm sometimes over-aggresive, netting on occasion or bumping into fellow players. Then, the second time I play, I hold back and have bad passes, dropped balls and eventually stop swinging and start tapping it over easy because I've lost confidence. What a mind job. At least I blocked well.
I play with a guy who is also a pastor. I'm having difficulty because I don't know whether to call him Wayne or Pastor Wayne. I want to drop the honorifics but I always revert back to Pastor Wayne and feel like such a dork.
We play in a co-ed league that has no co-ed enforced rules. You don't need females on your team and there isn't any girl-touch rule. Our team has at least two females on the court at all time and we aren't the tallest team. I don't think we have anyone topping the 6 foot mark. That being said, we played against an all-male team with three players taller than 6-feet yesterday. That seems a little odd, especially in the middle division. I'm happy to say that we went 2-2 against them. In all honesty, I'd be embarrassed to be a 6'4" guy going up to block a 5'3" Japanese girl.
