I'm a book cutter. I took my $100 dollar books to Kinkos yesterday and had them cut off the binding and three-hole punch the papers for me so I can now take just the relevant parts of the book to class with me. As I was having the books mutilated I had visions of every school librarian I ever had gasping and crying. I have to admit I was sad as I used a knife to cut off the hard cover, but now I feel a sense of freedom, a sense that my back will survive.
I also have a new goal. It's a short term goal, but I believe that we all have to take babysteps. My goal for each and every class is, "Don't be a dumbass". It's a mantra that I repeat to myself at least four times before each class. Oops, time for Civil Procedure.
Don't be a dumbass.
Don't be a dumbass.
Don't be a dumbass.
Don't be a dumbass.
